MB Funds provide Mezzanine to Suomen Rehu

MB Mezzanine Fund II Ky provided the entire mezzanine capital to finance the acquisition of Suomen Rehu animal feed business from Cultor Oyj, a subsidiary of Danisco. The acquisition deal was closed 1 November 1999. The mezzanine financing deal was the third for MB Mezzanine Fund II since its fundraising was closed in June 1998.
The 1998 net sales of Suomen Rehu were FIM1.1 bn (€178 Million). The company has been developing and adding new features to the traditional animal feed business, including improved logistics systems and a transparent quality chain in food production.
The equity of the new company is owned by Avena Oy, Kemira Agro Oy and Suomen Rehu management.
Avena Oy is the leading corn trader in Finland and Kemira Agro Oy is subsidiary of Kemira Oyj, the Finland based chemicals company.
The parties have agreed to disclose neither the acquisition price nor the size of each layer of financing.
